The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced that its 55th Annual Education Conference will take place from July 22 to July 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
Founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, APRI is an organization of Black trade unionists focused on racial equality and economic justice. The institute was established to continue efforts for political progress for working Americans that began with its founders.
A. Philip Randolph is known for founding the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. This group led Pullman porters in a campaign against low wages and racial discrimination, achieving union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged into what is now the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), furthering Randolph’s vision of organized labor supporting dignity and equality.
The annual conference aims to bring together labor leaders, activists, and members nationwide to address key issues facing working people today. Attendees will participate in training programs and workshops focused on leadership development, advancing racial and economic justice, and strengthening community and workplace power.
There will also be opportunities for participants to network with other union members and allies, hear from expert speakers, and learn practical strategies they can implement locally.
Hotel reservations can be made through a provided link. Further details about conference registration will be released soon. A tentative agenda for this year’s event is available as a downloadable PDF.
