A prominent real estate agent in Austin, Michael Reisor, has left Douglas Elliman to join Compass Real Estate. Reisor previously managed the Eklund-Gomes Texas team and leads the 14-member Reisor Team, which reported more than $100 million in sales volume in 2025.
Reisor cited Compass’s brand and its off-market listing option as key reasons for the move. “Compass’s private exclusive network is very important in New York. In Austin, around half of what we do is off-market, so I think there’s a lot of demand for that in both places. But in Austin, there’s more resources for that,” Reisor said.
Austin’s real estate market features a strong off-market sector due to factors such as high property taxes, non-disclosure laws, and privacy concerns among some clients. Organizations like the members-only Austin Luxury Network and startup Clubhouse facilitate transactions outside the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
In contrast, New York lacks similar infrastructure for private deals, which Reisor believes gives Compass an opportunity to expand its presence there.
Compass’ approach to private listings has drawn attention nationwide. The company faces scrutiny over its private listing feature after Zillow filed a lawsuit alleging violations of the National Association of Realtors’ Clear Cooperation Policy. This policy requires agents to list homes on MLS within one day of marketing them publicly. Zillow has enforced this rule by banning listings not submitted promptly.
The addition of the Reisor Team follows other recent moves within Texas real estate circles. Last month, Houston-based The Property Collective Group switched from Keller Williams to Compass. Oak Cliff Real Estate also returned to Compass after a brief stint with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.
Meanwhile, Dana Johnson, a luxury agent from Houston, moved from Compass to Douglas Elliman earlier this year.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Reisor joined Douglas Elliman in 2021 after working at Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty since 2018.
