Austin Energy will observe Public Power Week from October 5 to 11, joining about 2,000 other community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities that together serve 55 million people in the United States.

Stuart Reilly, interim general manager of Austin Energy, stated, “As a public power provider, Austin Energy focuses on our community and we listen to its priorities. Since we operate right here in Austin serving our friends and neighbors, we are committed to helping them save energy and money while safely delivering clean, affordable, reliable energy and excellent customer service.”

Public Power Week highlights the long-standing relationship between Austin Energy and the local community. The utility has been serving Austin for 130 years as a community-owned entity with an emphasis on customer needs.

During Public Power Week, Austin Energy will share information about its work on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn. The utility encourages residents to participate online and learn more about its services.

A video about the value of public power is available for those interested in learning more. A Spanish-language version of the video is also offered.
