The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will host a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The public release of these estimates is scheduled for September 11, 2025.
The webinar aims to guide users on how to access ACS data and resources and provide advice for comparing different geographic areas and statistics over time. According to the Census Bureau, the ACS is a key source of information about the nation’s people and housing, covering topics such as language spoken at home, education, commuting patterns, employment status, mortgage or rent details, income levels, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. It remains the only local source for most of these topics.
Embargo subscribers will be able to view the one-year statistics starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. This early access applies to all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other locations with populations of at least 65,000. Embargoed data must not be distributed before the official public release date and time; further details are available in the Census Bureau’s embargo policy. All datasets will become publicly accessible by September 11 at 10 a.m. ET.
Those interested in embargo access can register at www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/embargoed_releases.
The prerelease webinar will feature Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office. The session will include both an audio conference and an online presentation. Attendees can participate in a Q&A session during and after the presentation using designated features.
Registration for the webinar is available at https://www.census.gov/data/academy/webinars/2025/2024-acs-1-year-estimates-prerelease.html.
