The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will release three reports next month detailing income, poverty, and health insurance coverage statistics for 2024 in the United States. The findings will be presented during an online news conference scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—draw on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These documents provide annual estimates that allow analysts to evaluate economic trends and their impact on households and individuals across the country.
According to the Census Bureau, the income report will offer national figures on annual income, earnings, and inequality. The poverty report will include both official poverty rates and Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) estimates. The health insurance coverage report will present national-level data on health insurance status by select characteristics.
David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division at the Census Bureau; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch at the Public Information Office, are set to participate in the event. Iriondo will serve as moderator.
A question-and-answer session with media representatives is planned immediately following the presentation. Afterward, reports, data tables, and a news release will be available online through the Income, Poverty and Health Insurance press kit.
The event will take place via Webex by Cisco. Media representatives can join using webinar number 2831 847 5138 with password Census#1 or access audio by calling 888-566-5791 (passcode: 1732236).
