A hotel that has been closed for several years in Addison is being renovated and will reopen as a luxury property targeting both business and leisure travelers. Centurion American Development Group, led by Mehrdad Moayedi, is finalizing renovations at the former Crowne Plaza located at 14315 Midway Road. The property, which will be rebranded as Hotel Dax, features 426 rooms and nearly 32,000 square feet of redesigned meeting space.

The hotel will include four new dining concepts, a resort-style pool, and a TopGolf Swing Suite. These additions are intended to make the hotel appealing to visitors and locals. The Dallas Business Journal reported that an LLC affiliated with Centurion acquired the property in August, with plans to open early next year.

Addison is known for its concentration of restaurants and consistent corporate activity. Moayedi stated: “There is demand for higher-quality meeting and event space in Addison,” adding that Hotel Dax is meant to provide more options for the town.

Centurion American Development Group is primarily recognized for large-scale residential projects but also has experience with significant hotel redevelopments. The company previously led the $255 million restoration of downtown Dallas’ Statler Hotel, reopening it in 2017 as a luxury destination.

The renovation of the Addison property was extensive. The Crowne Plaza closed in April 2020 due to financial difficulties and repair costs related to weather damage. Originally built in 1984 and last renovated in 2013, the hotel had previously received InterContinental Hotels Group’s “renovation of the year” award before its decline. It was formerly known as Harvey Hotel before becoming Crowne Plaza.

According to a spokesperson from Centurion, the interior of the building was completely gutted while maintaining much of the exterior structure, including its glass ceiling. Merriman Anderson Architects handled the redesign of the interior spaces, while Dreamscape Hospitality will manage operations at Hotel Dax.

The food-and-beverage offerings play a key role in repositioning the hotel. They include Top Brass (an American bistro), Bar Dax (a social and sports bar), an outdoor pool lounge available to both locals and private events, and Brewed (a coffee shop and market). Additionally, Hotel Dax will participate in Marriott Bonvoy’s loyalty program.
