Fort Bend County officials are moving forward with a $235 million plan to build the EpiCenter Hotel and Convention Center in Rosenberg. The project includes a 254-room hotel, expanded meeting and convention spaces, and parking garages covering 70,000 square feet. This development is designed to enhance Rosenberg’s appeal for tourism, trade shows, and business gatherings.

County Judge KP George said, “a true game-changer for our community.” Officials believe the project will boost local retail, restaurant, and hospitality businesses in the area southwest of Houston.

The EpiCenter arena opened last year at 28505 Southwest Freeway with seating for 10,000 people and flexible event space. Since opening, it has hosted high school graduations as well as national events such as All Elite Wrestling’s “Dynamite” and “Rampage,” along with Hot Wheels’ Monster Trucks Live Glow Party.

Fort Bend County is experiencing rapid population growth and increasing demand for venues that can accommodate large-scale events. Local leaders see an opportunity for Rosenberg to attract conferences and entertainment business that might otherwise go to Houston. If the hotel and convention center are completed as planned, Rosenberg could become a secondary hub in Greater Houston’s event sector.

Building public event venues often challenges local budgets, especially given strong competition from established facilities like Houston’s convention center and suburban venues such as Sugar Land’s Smart Financial Centre. However, county officials believe there is room in the market for a mid-sized modern facility suited for events too large for smaller gyms but not requiring downtown Houston’s larger venues.

Recent attendance at wrestling shows and other events suggests that the arena can attract significant crowds.
