Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of Amber Batson and the appointment of Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors. Batson’s term will expire on August 31, 2027, while Syphrett’s term is set to end on August 31, 2026.

The Gulf Coast Authority is responsible for providing water systems and managing water pollution and waste disposal within its district. The authority also conducts research and studies related to controlling water pollution and waste disposal.

Amber Batson, from Tomball, serves as a Project Manager and Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers. She holds memberships in the Texas Water Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. Batson is a licensed professional engineer with both the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.

Dan Syphrett, from Stowell, is retired after working as an electric utility manager. He participates in local community organizations including serving on the East Chambers Education Foundation Gala committee and as a member of the St. Louis Church Rice Ball Committee. Syphrett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.
