Governor Abbott appoints Dusty Fillmore as judge for Tarrant County district court

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed H. Dustin “Dusty” Fillmore, III as Judge of the 236th Judicial District Court in Tarrant County. Fillmore’s term will last until December 31, 2026.

Fillmore is a partner at The Fillmore Law Firm, L.L.P., based in Fort Worth. He is active in several professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, The Federalist Society, Federal Bar Association, and the Tarrant County Bar Association. In addition to his legal work, he volunteers with AVENEW ministry at Christ Chapel Bible Church.

Fillmore holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.

The appointment comes as part of Governor Abbott’s responsibilities as head of the executive office for the state government of Texas. According to the official website, Governor Abbott’s office focuses on economic development, education enhancement, border security efforts, and community initiatives across Texas. The governor’s office also operates out of its main offices in Austin at the State Insurance Building and is recognized for supporting job growth and innovation throughout the state (source).
