Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Katherine McDaniel to serve as judge of the 498th Judicial District Court in Kendall County. Her term will run until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.
McDaniel, who lives in Boerne, is currently the first assistant district attorney for the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. She serves on the Texas Violent Gang Task Force at the Governor’s request and is involved with several professional organizations, including the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association Journal Editorial Board, State Bar of Texas, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Prosecutors’ Society.
She also holds roles outside her legal duties. McDaniel is a steering committee member for the Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition and secretary of the board of directors for the Boerne Police Foundation. Additionally, she chairs the sports banquet for the TMI School Community Engagement Council and has given presentations nationwide on search and seizure law.
McDaniel holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and earned her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
