Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Lindsey Gohlke and reappointed Romey Swanson to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. Their terms will last until February 1, 2031. The council is responsible for advising and assisting the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) in administering the program and selecting applicants to receive grants. The TFRLCP aims to conserve working lands that are important for water resources, wildlife, and agricultural production.
Lindsey Gohlke, from Oglesby, works as a lender at Security Bank of Texas. She is involved with the Texas Bankers Association, the Independent Banker Association, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the McLennan County Farm Bureau. Gohlke holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Communication and Journalism from Texas A&M University.
Romey Swanson, based in Austin, serves as executive director of Devils River Conservancy. He is also president of both the Texas Ornithological Society and the Texas Herpetological Society. Swanson is a past president of the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society and sits on the board of directors for the Texas Land Trust Council. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology and a Master’s degree in Wildlife Ecology from Texas State University.
