Governor Abbott appoints two members to state Alzheimer’s council

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed D. Bailey Wynne and Kathey Comer to the Texas Council on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, with their terms set to expire on August 31, 2031. The council is responsible for coordinating state services for individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.

D. Bailey Wynne, from Duncanville, currently serves as a teaching fellow and doctoral student at the University of North Texas in Denton. She holds memberships in both the American Pharmacists Association and the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition to her academic pursuits, Wynne is involved with the finance board for Young Life and serves as a commissioner on the Duncanville Planning and Zoning Board. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Creighton University, a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Arts in Health from Texas Woman’s University.

Kathey Comer, who resides in Tyler, is retired but has held several leadership roles during her career. She was previously East Texas Regional Director for U.S. Senator John Cornyn and executive vice president at multiple home builders associations across Austin, Dallas, and Tyler. Comer participates in organizations such as Catalyst 100 and is recognized as a certified Main Street Director. Her volunteer work includes serving as a visionary member for the Women’s Fund of Smith County, sustaining member of the Junior League of Austin, committee coordinator for the Texas Book Festival, and secretary on the board of directors for Black Hills Cemetery. Comer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Baylor University, completed advanced degrees in Gerontology and Long-Term Care Administration from UNT, and pursued post-graduate studies in early childhood education at UT Tyler.
