Governor Greg Abbott met with several U.S. Ambassadors at the Governor’s Mansion to discuss ways to strengthen transatlantic security and promote Texas’ defense manufacturing and innovation sectors. The meeting included U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Joseph Popolo, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose, and U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Nicholas Merrick.

Governor Abbott spoke about Texas’ investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities, highlighting the state’s leadership in artificial intelligence, defense innovation, semiconductor capacity, and aerospace and aviation industries. During the meeting, Ambassador Whitaker expressed appreciation for Governor Abbott’s efforts: “Thank you for your work to ensure the United States and its allies stand strong against bad actors.” Both parties stressed the importance of maintaining partnerships between their countries and Texas to enhance national security.

The discussion also covered Texas’ energy ecosystem. The group noted that Texas’ all-of-the-above approach has made its energy sector stronger than ever before. Governor Abbott outlined steps taken by the state to lead a nuclear renaissance, including establishing the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office and creating the Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund as incentives for nuclear energy development in Texas. The Ambassadors emphasized that robust energy generation is essential for powering critical industries such as defense manufacturing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.

The visit was part of a two-day tour during which the Ambassadors met with major manufacturers across several cities in Texas.
