Texas Governor Greg Abbott has amended and renewed a disaster proclamation related to fire weather conditions affecting numerous counties across the state. The original proclamation was issued on August 10, 2025, and has been updated in response to ongoing elevated fire risks.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management confirmed that increased fire weather conditions continue in several counties. In his official statement, Governor Abbott said: “I do hereby amend and renew the aforementioned proclamation and declare a disaster in Andrews, Aransas, Archer, Armstrong, Atascosa, Austin… Zapata, and Zavala Counties.”
Governor Abbott authorized the use of all available resources from state government and political subdivisions as necessary to address the situation. He also suspended certain regulatory statutes or rules that might hinder emergency response efforts during this declared disaster.
