Governor Greg Abbott participated in a volunteer appreciation luncheon in Kerrville, where he helped serve meals to those who assisted with the rebuilding of the Dietert Center. The center is the only senior community facility in the area and was damaged during severe flooding in July.
The event was organized by Hunt. Fish. Feed. and Spectrum, who provided food for volunteers as part of ongoing recovery efforts. Governor Abbott addressed attendees, stating: “You are the heart and soul of the community. Whether you live here, work here, or eat here, you depend on the people here. This is your home, and we all have a collective goal — and that is to ensure you are going to be safe and secure permanently in your home right here in Kerr County. We’re going to be here every day, every step of the way, until we completely rebuild this entire region.”
Governor Abbott also noted that Texas continues to support recovery operations for communities affected by July’s flooding. He emphasized that collaborative efforts and volunteer work are helping rebuild stronger than before.
Those joining Governor Abbott at the event included Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Representative Wes Virdell, Dietert Center Executive Director Brenda Thompson, Hunt. Feed. Fish. Director of Marketing Dave Munroe, Spectrum Communications Vice President of Government Affairs Ned Munoz, along with other state and local officials.
Photos from the event will be made available at a later date.
