Hotel Daphne, a recently opened boutique hotel in Houston’s Heights neighborhood, is planning a significant expansion less than a month after welcoming its first guests. The property, located at 347 West 20th Street, intends to add a two-story wing with 10 additional rooms and several new amenities in an estimated $15 million project, according to the Houston Business Journal and a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The proposed expansion includes nearly 12,000 square feet of new construction. Planned features are king suites, a single-story pool bar with an adjoining terrace, event space, an event kitchen, and a meeting room. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 and conclude in early 2027. However, these timelines are preliminary as state permit filings may change during the process.

Hotel Daphne opened on December 3 as part of a joint venture between Bunkhouse Hotels of Austin and Wood Lane Partners of Houston. The five-story building was designed to integrate into the residential character of the Heights rather than stand out as a high-rise. The hotel currently offers amenities such as an interior courtyard, a library that also serves as event space, a retail shop, and an all-day restaurant named Hypsi. Its design incorporates painted brickwork, stepped parapets, and steel windows inspired by the area’s industrial past. Room rates start at $359 per night.

The expansion represents progress for Wood Lane Partners after earlier efforts to establish Maison Robert—a smaller European-style boutique hotel—were halted following approvals in 2019 due to pandemic-related disruptions in hospitality development. Hotel Daphne eventually broke ground in 2023.

Bunkhouse Hotels has also expanded its presence in Houston with Hotel Saint Augustine opening in Montrose in 2024. That property has since earned recognition with a Michelin Key award for its focus on design-forward hotels within residential neighborhoods.
