A Houston-based couple, Jason and Kisha Itkin, have acquired the TR9 Ranch and Equestrian Facility near Weatherford, Texas. The 860-acre property was sold by Teton Ridge, a Western sports and content company that had owned the ranch for about four years. The transaction closed on January 8, according to Icon Global, a Dallas land brokerage firm. While the final sale price was not disclosed, the ranch had been listed for $43.5 million.
Located approximately 50 miles west of Fort Worth and about 18 miles from Weatherford—an area known as the cutting horse capital of the world—the TR9 Ranch is recognized nationally for its equestrian infrastructure. It has housed National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame horses such as Quintan Blue and Watch Me Whip. During its ownership, Teton Ridge operated a breeding and performance program at the facility.
Don Bell, associate broker at Icon Global, stated that Teton Ridge expanded the ranch from 618 acres to 860 acres during its tenure. The company also renovated existing structures and built new facilities designed to accommodate multiple horse disciplines within one location.
The property features indoor and outdoor arenas, cattle-handling systems, barns, conditioning areas, and spectator spaces. Bell described it as “the premier horse training facility in Parker County,” noting that it is uncommon for a single site to support cutting, reining, and cow horse training due to differing requirements.
Jason Itkin is a partner at Houston law firm Arnold & Itkin. The couple also operates Theorem Ranch in Montana and owns a vineyard in Napa Valley. In August last year, they purchased Stevie Rey Von—a prominent cutting horse sire—for $23 million.
In an announcement on social media regarding their acquisition of TR9 Ranch, Kisha Itkin said: “We plan to maximize this ranch’s potential” and position it as a platform to help grow Western performance sports.
Bell noted he initially thought selling the entire property would be difficult given operational costs but found that “the Itkins emerged as a rare buyer whose resources matched their ambition.” Bernard Uechtritz, founder of Icon Global, referred to properties like TR9 Ranch as fitting into a “pinhole” market due to their scale and specialization.
