IAM District 19 has announced a tentative agreement with Union Pacific Railroad, potentially affecting about 1,300 freight rail workers. The deal addresses key concerns regarding pay, vacation, and healthcare benefits.

Reece Murtagh, President and Directing General Chair of IAM District 19, stated: “Our membership asked us to stand strong for a contract that includes no takeaways and makes improvements to pay, vacation and healthcare – and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered. We strongly recommend acceptance of this agreement.”

Josh Hartford, Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Rail Division, commented: “District 19 continues to stand strong for industry-leading contracts. Together, we are remaking this industry and giving every rail worker the respect they’ve earned.”

IAM District 19 plans to provide members with further details on the proposed contract. Members will participate in an electronic ratification vote scheduled from August 25 through August 29, 2025.
