IAM Union General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes and Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen recently visited the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3). Their visit focused on supporting educational programs for union members, including Organizing I classes offered in both Spanish and English, as well as the Young Workers Leadership Program.

Students from various parts of North America attended these sessions at W3 to improve their organizing skills and deepen their involvement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).

Dora Cervantes emphasized the importance of providing organizing education in Spanish. She stated, “Her visit amplified the IAM’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, education, and empowering members at every level of the union.” Cervantes also highlighted efforts to ensure all members have access to leadership tools.

Richie Johnsen met with organizers and young workers during his visit. He commended their dedication, especially given that the meetings took place close to the holiday season.

Participants in the Young Workers program noted that these visits reinforced their role within the labor movement. They said it affirmed that they have a seat at the table.
