A mansion in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood, previously owned by the late oil executive Cary Maguire, has been listed for sale at $28.5 million. The nearly 21,000-square-foot Neo-Georgian estate at 4606 Park Lane was designed in 1985 by architect Jack Hemphill for Maguire, who was known for founding Maguire Oil Company and Maguire Energy Company and supporting Southern Methodist University through philanthropy.

The property sits on 3.2 acres and is priced at $1,362 per square foot, making it one of the most expensive listings currently within Dallas city limits. Only the Crespi Estate exceeds it in price among local properties on the market, with an asking price of $64 million.

Ownership of the estate is under the Four Thousand Trust, which acquired it in 2022 after Maguire’s death. In the past two and a half years, significant investments have been made to update the home for modern living before a job transfer led to its listing.

“The whole home has been completely redone,” said Compass broker Faisal Halum, who represents the listing.

Features include a great hall that spans the first floor with refinished parquet floors and custom fixtures, a two-story den with a 23-foot ceiling, glass conservatory, Art Deco bar, barrel-vaulted banquet hall, black-lacquered lounge, wine room and sculptural brass tub in the primary suite.

The house has hosted several prominent figures over its history. Both Bush presidents visited as did Gerald Ford and Margaret Thatcher. Other guests included Czech President Vaclav Klaus and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. The mansion once displayed an extensive collection of presidential memorabilia belonging to Maguire.

Halum described the property as “a rare chance to secure land and legacy in one of Dallas’ most exclusive enclaves,” noting that finding acreage in Preston Hollow is uncommon.
