Nature’s Treasures, a well-known retail store in Austin, has completed its relocation to a new campus at 11055 N IH-35 after more than two decades of operation. The move was prompted by the expansion of the IH-35 Capital Express project, which required the acquisition of Nature’s Treasures’ previous site by the State of Texas in 2023.
The business, founded by Karen Richards, began with a small collection of amethyst crystals and grew into three locations before consolidating into one larger venue in 2011. In 2024, Nature’s Treasures selected its new location six exits north of the original site and undertook a phased move. The transition included relocating their Event Center first and maintaining operations at their original showroom during construction.
After two years of collaboration among tenants, landlords, city officials, and state agencies, Nature’s Treasures announced its Grand Reopening on August 8. City of Austin officials declared this date “Nature’s Treasures Day,” and the event was held in partnership with the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
The Austin Chamber of Commerce plays an active role in supporting local businesses through events and partnerships aimed at economic growth and community development. The organization encourages inclusive development across neighborhoods and relies on board leadership to guide initiatives that benefit both businesses and residents. More information about these efforts can be found on their official website as well as their main portal.
Karen Richards said she believes that “nature has the power to revitalize the body, mind and spirit,” adding that it is her life’s work to share this opportunity with the community. She emphasized the importance of reconnecting people with nature through products like natural textiles or jewelry, decorative rocks for gardens or patios, or natural décor for homes and offices.
At its new location, Nature’s Treasures has implemented several environmentally friendly measures such as retrofitting lighting with LEDs and revitalizing landscaping using native species. The company also plans to participate in local utility programs for further sustainability efforts.
