San Angelo has marked the opening of Roosevelt Lofts, a new affordable housing development aimed at residents aged 55 and older. The 25-unit property is located at 50 North Chadbourne Street and occupies the former Roosevelt Hotel, which was built in 1929 and designed by John G. Becker. The site is situated two blocks from San Angelo City Hall.

Roosevelt Lofts received $998,280 in tax credits as part of the 2023 9% Housing Tax Credit program. Over a ten-year period, these credits have an estimated value of $8.4 million.

The apartments are income-restricted, providing affordable housing options for senior citizens in the area. The transformation of the historic hotel into residential units aligns with ongoing efforts to increase affordable housing availability across Texas.

Individuals interested in residing at Roosevelt Lofts can contact the management office at (325) 242-9800. Those seeking additional affordable housing opportunities statewide may use the TDHCA’s Help for Texans resource and Vacancy Clearinghouse, available at https://www.tdhca.texas.gov/help-for-texans.
