Samsung has announced a $1 million donation to support relief and recovery efforts following severe flooding across Texas. The company has selected the Rebuild Texas Fund, managed by the OneStar Foundation, to oversee immediate and long-term recovery operations in affected areas. According to Samsung, $900,000 will be distributed through the fund to address urgent needs and funding gaps identified in impacted communities.

Additionally, Samsung is allocating up to $100,000 for its employee giving program, which includes corporate matching donations directed toward three community funds: the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country flood relief fund; Central Texas Community Foundation; Travis County Cares; and Wilco Cares. These organizations are working with local governments in Travis and Williamson counties to manage relief donations.

“Our hearts are with the communities and families who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding in Texas,” said Bonyoung Koo, president of Samsung Austin Semiconductor. “As a proud Texas-based company for nearly 30 years, we are deeply committed to supporting our neighbors and helping them recover from these devastating floods.”

Flooding throughout July caused extensive damage across 21 counties in Texas and resulted in multiple fatalities.

“Samsung and Texas have a strong partnership that goes beyond business,” OneStar Foundation president and CEO Chris Bugbee said. “Samsung is dedicated to Texans and they’re deeply rooted in our state. With this donation they will help provide much-needed assistance to those who need it most.”

Beyond financial contributions, Samsung employees have volunteered at flood recovery sites as part of the company’s #WeChipIn initiative.

Samsung Austin Semiconductor employs approximately 4,500 people at its Central Texas facility and has operated there for nearly three decades. The company’s technology portfolio supports various sectors including mobile devices, consumer electronics, networking equipment, automotive products, and more.
