Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Film Commission have announced an upcoming Film Friendly Texas Workshop scheduled for Thursday, October 16, in Odessa. The event is open to communities across Texas interested in strategies to create local jobs and boost economic growth by becoming Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities.
“Texas’ growing media production industry supports local jobs and creates revenue in communities across our great state,” said Governor Abbott. “The Texas Film Commission works with our community partners to market their unique skills, attract new investments in media production, and create high-paying jobs for Texans. I invite all Texas communities to attend this workshop to leverage the advantages of being certified as a Film Friendly Texas Community.”
The workshop is organized by the Texas Film Commission in partnership with Discover Odessa. It will feature professional development sessions and information about the process for becoming a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. Attending such a workshop is required for certification.
Local government employees, convention and visitors bureau staff, chamber of commerce representatives, or those from local economic development corporations who plan to serve as liaisons for media production are encouraged to participate.
The workshop will take place at the Holiday Inn Odessa on October 16 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with registration starting at 8:00 AM at 5275 E 42nd Street, Odessa, TX 79762. More details and registration information are available at https://gov.texas.gov/film/page/fftx_workshops.
Since its launch in 2007, the Film Friendly Texas Certified Community program has grown to include over 200 certified communities focused on developing local media production industries to promote job creation and economic growth.
