Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a major provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Texas, has reported the results of its fifth annual Month of Giving initiative. The company’s employees volunteered across four cities—Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Lubbock—during October as part of a partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

A total of 389 Texas Mutual employees contributed 1,347 volunteer hours to support 47 local organizations. Activities ranged from preparing meals for families at Ronald McDonald House locations to organizing food distribution efforts at various food banks.

In Austin, volunteers worked with Mobile Loaves & Fishes in Community First! Village on gardening and landscaping projects and continued their family volunteer event tradition with Generation SERVE. They also helped prepare lunches at Caritas of Austin and packed food boxes at El Buen Samaritano’s pantry. Other efforts included assembling thank-you bags for Texas Search and Rescue staff after recent flooding, hosting a teacher appreciation lunch for Wayside Schools, assisting children with homework at Foundation Communities, participating in a fall festival for patients at Texas Children’s Hospital, and supporting Saint Louise House’s Trunk or Treat event.

Houston-based employees served lunch to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston and prepared healthy lunches for Kids’ Meals. They also supported the Houston Food Bank’s Kids’ Café program, provided snacks to foster children through Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, and assembled hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E.

Dallas volunteers prepared dinners for Ronald McDonald House families and organized events benefiting Catch Up & Read and the Humane Society of North Texas. Employees spent time with participants at My Possibilities by joining classes and delivered cold and flu kits to seniors through Foundation Communities.

In Lubbock, activities included hosting a Make-A-Wish celebration for a child headed to Walt Disney World and supporting veterans during the Texas South Plains Honor Flight send-off luncheon. Volunteers also worked on crafts for service members with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, cared for animals at Morris Safe House, assisted families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, packed food boxes at South Plains Food Bank, and participated in Science Spectrum’s science carnival.

A statement from Texas Mutual highlighted employee engagement: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”
