Texas Mutual Insurance Company has announced the opening of its workforce development and safety training grants, set to begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. Central time on August 11. The grant cycle will close at 11:59 p.m. Central time on September 12.

This year, Texas Mutual is allocating $8 million to nonprofit organizations that support working families and strengthen businesses across Texas. Last month, the company awarded $4.5 million to 66 nonprofits as part of its first Request for Proposal (RFP) initiative focused on generational learning. These organizations were chosen for their work in improving health and wellness among Texas employees and their families, strengthening early childhood education by supporting child care providers, and offering holistic wraparound support alongside case management.

The second RFP initiative will distribute an additional $4 million to nonprofits aiding Texas employees through workforce development and safety training programs. According to Texas Mutual, this round seeks organizations that train current and future skilled workers in safe practices—particularly in higher-risk industries—create pathways for middle-skill jobs in demand, and upskill or reskill adult learners using earn-and-learn models.

Nonprofits interested in applying are invited to attend an informational webinar scheduled for August 20.

Grant proposals will be reviewed by employee volunteers from Texas Mutual who will prioritize projects aligning with the company’s mission to enhance workplace safety, build pathways into high-demand jobs, and support adult learners seeking new skills. The community affairs team aims to ensure funds are distributed statewide.

“We’re grateful for our hundreds of community partners that help us expand our reach across the state. These nonprofits share our commitment to building a stronger, safer Texas and are doing meaningful work in their communities,” a spokesperson said.
