The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) has received three awards from the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), which recognizes achievements among real estate regulators globally. The honors were given for a video series, an updated Broker Responsibility Course, and a rental fraud investigation.

TREC’s communications team was recognized for its video series marking the agency’s 75th anniversary. The videos highlight TREC’s history, milestones, and role in regulating real estate in Texas. The project aimed to make information accessible and visually engaging for a broad audience. According to TREC, these videos serve both as educational tools and as a celebration of the agency’s legacy.

The organization also received recognition for developing the 2025–2026 Broker Responsibility Course. This required course for brokers and delegated supervisors was redesigned to clarify areas often misunderstood within broker responsibility, including supervisory roles and brokerage policy use. The course features interactive activities such as “Build a Brokerage,” new design elements focused on accessibility, case studies relevant to current practice, and practical tools for students’ daily work. TREC stated that this effort continues their approach of making continuing education more interactive and relevant—a standard first set during their previous Legal Update courses that were also honored by ARELLO.

Investigator Jenna Hall was named ARELLO Investigator of the Year for her work on a complex rental fraud case involving fraudulent lease applications, false documents, and misconduct affecting three property owners. Hall worked closely with law enforcement to identify patterns of fraud that resulted in disciplinary action including license revocation and felony indictments.

“These awards reflect the incredible dedication of our staff to education, outreach, and enforcement,” said TREC Executive Director Chelsea Buchholtz. “I am proud of these recognitions and the significant work behind them. Together, they highlight how TREC’s mission—protecting consumers of real estate services in Texas—is carried out every day.”

The projects involved contributions from many across TREC: Government and Strategic Communications Director Summer Mandell; Communications Specialist Sierra Pizarro; Commissioners; subject matter experts; staff at the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University; Deputy Executive Director Vanessa Burgess; Curriculum Developer Jennifer Grube; General Counsel Abby Lee; Enforcement Director Michael Molloy; and Education and Examinations Director Jennifer Wheeler.
