The Texas Real Estate Commission has announced that the updated Information About Brokerage Services (IABS 1-2) form is now required for use starting January 1, 2026. The revisions to the IABS notice follow the enactment of Senate Bill 1968, which takes effect on the same date and introduces a non-representation status and new written agreement requirements under The Real Estate License Act (TRELA).
According to the commission, “The changes to the IABS notice are due to Senate Bill 1968, effective January 1, 2026, which adds to The Real Estate License Act (TRELA) a non-representation status and written agreement requirements for certain situations.”
The language in the IABS notice has been modified to reflect these legislative updates. Additionally, descriptions related to contact information have been revised to match current terminology.
Another significant change involves the removal of references to subagency from the IABS notice. This adjustment comes as subagency is eliminated from TRELA by Senate Bill 1968.
“Finally, the changes remove references to subagency, as it is eliminated from TRELA under Senate Bill 1968,” stated the Texas Real Estate Commission.
