Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent more emergency management personnel to Arizona to help with flood recovery efforts. This move follows a request from Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.
“Texans are no strangers to the devastating effects caused by severe weather,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional personnel to further support Arizona as they rebuild and recover from recent flooding. Texas will continue to assist our fellow Americans in their time of need.”
The Texas Division of Emergency Management has sent staff specializing in logistics, planning, and disaster finance. These teams will work with Arizona’s Emergency Operations Center and participate in field operations related to flood response and recovery.
This deployment adds to the Texas emergency management personnel already sent last week for similar support in Arizona.
The assistance is organized through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows states to share resources during disasters or emergencies. EMAC ensures that participating states can send aid, protect deployed staff, and receive reimbursement for mission-related expenses. More details about EMAC can be found at https://www.emacweb.org/.
Texas continues its own recovery efforts after experiencing significant flooding in July.
