Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office have announced that the Seventh Annual Texas Sounds & Cities Conference will take place in Corpus Christi on November 5 and 6. The event is co-hosted by the Texas Music Office, the City of Corpus Christi, Visit Corpus Christi, and the Corpus Christi Film & Music Commission.

Governor Abbott stated, “Texas is where live music lives. Texas’ vibrant music industry supports local job creation while drawing visitors from around the globe, attracting a talented workforce across industries, and supporting business recruitment and expansion efforts throughout the state. I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities large and small develop creative partnerships and grow new jobs.”

The conference will feature panel discussions focused on developing the music industry in Texas. Attendees will also discuss potential statewide collaboration among Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities as well as best practices for increasing music tourism and creating local jobs.

All communities certified as Music Friendly Texas are invited to participate. More information about registration and a detailed agenda can be found at texassoundsandcities.com.

The Texas Music Office operates within the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office. It was established in 1990 as the first state music office in the United States. Since 2016, it has managed a statewide program certifying communities as “Music Friendly,” with more than 80 partners across Texas. Further details about this program are available at gov.texas.gov/music/page/music-friendly-communities.
