The U.S. Census Bureau has released preliminary data from the 2024 Annual Survey of School System Finances, offering an early view into public school spending for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The data also include state-level summaries of revenues and expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year.

According to the Census Bureau, fiscal years may differ among school systems, and the survey does not adjust these figures to a uniform timeline. The initial results are considered preliminary and may be updated before final figures are published.

The agency plans to release finalized data covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia in 2026.
