The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables detailing the characteristics of the foreign-born population in the United States, based on findings from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

These newly published tables provide insights into various social and economic factors such as employment status, education, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex. The information is categorized by generation: first generation (foreign-born individuals), second generation (those with at least one foreign-born parent), and third-and-higher generation (individuals with two U.S. native parents).

The Current Population Survey is recognized as one of the country’s oldest and largest surveys. It serves as a key source for monthly labor force statistics and is used to gather additional data that informs the public about different aspects of economic and social well-being.
