The Virginia IAM Council recently held a meeting that brought together union members and leaders to discuss labor issues and political engagement. Charles Mann, president of the council, addressed attendees on the importance of worker security, fair compensation, and workplace safety. He also urged members to participate in the upcoming Virginia elections, which will determine all major statewide offices and delegate seats.

Newly unionized members from botanical gardens shared their experiences with organizing and highlighted how resources and support from both international and state union partners, including the AFL-CIO, played a role in their efforts.

Speakers at the meeting emphasized that political involvement and voting are crucial for advancing labor rights and supporting the broader labor movement. They encouraged members to support candidates who back labor interests, regardless of political party.
