A local physician in Weimar is inviting residents to participate in the town’s first anniversary Walk with a Doc Texas event. The initiative, which is part of a national program, encourages doctors to organize community walks and invite patients, their families, and other community members to join. During the walk, Dr. Duchicela and other health care professionals will be present to support participants and answer any health-related questions.

The Walk with a Doc Texas program is managed by a national nonprofit organization focused on promoting physical activity and healthy living. In Texas, the program receives backing from the Texas Medical Association (TMA), which represents over 59,000 physicians and medical students statewide. The TMA has been dedicated to improving public health since its founding in 1853.

Participation in the Weimar walk is free, and no preregistration is required. Information about upcoming walks will be shared on the chapter’s Walk with a Doc website.

Funding for Walk with a Doc Texas in 2025 comes from the TMA Foundation, with additional support provided by TMA Insurance Trust as well as contributions from various institutions, physicians, and their families. More details can be found at the TMA Foundation website.
